Pulmonology

Pulmonology

Pulmonology is a field of medicine that deals with the study, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the respiratory system.

The respiratory system includes the organs that help with breathing, with the three main parts of this system being the airways, lungs and respiratory muscles.

For some relatively common diseases that affect the lungs, such as the flu or pneumonia, in most cases you can get all the necessary advice and therapy from your GP. But if your cough, shortness of breath or other symptoms do not improve, you should visit a pulmonologist.
